Winter Sports and Fun Day

Stronghearts, in recognition of Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week,is sponsoring the 11th Annual Winter Sports & Fun Day. Activities include a ski race, miles of open ski trails, ice fishing, snowshoeing, sledding skating and igloo making. There will also be a fireside potluck. Skates, skis and snowshoes are available. Tribes of the Dawn Land Cultural and Heritage Days
Location:Passamaquoddy Tribal Lands, Indian Township on Rural Route 1 just North of Princeton Maine
Cultural crafts from the Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, Maliseet, and Micmac tribes: traditional handcrafted one-of-a-kind ash splint and sweet grass baskets, flutes, dream catchers, birch bark baskets, beaded jewelry, wood carvings, curly bowls, native dolls, walking sticks, art works and display of numerous books about Maine Tribes.
Demonstrations: making traditional baskets, pounding ash, bead working, flute and drum making, and birch bark canoe making.
Presentations: Native story telling, Native shawl dancing, drumming, archeological finds, Passamaquoddy medicine and videos featuring Native American stories.

Our open houses will provide a boat ride to the island from Cutler Harbor. We will also have refreshments on the island and souvenirs for sale. We hope you will take time to come and visit with us.

Maine Open Lighthouse Day

East Machias River Day
Location:Mill Park
All your favorite River Day activities and offerings are back this year. Bring the kids for the only frog-jumping contest in Maine. Stay all day for games, dunk tank, train rides, concessions, and homemade lemonade. New this year is a jumbo water slide for the bigger kids. Haddock fish fry with all the trimmings $12. Local country/western band, Desperado, takes the stage at 3:30 until 7:30pm.
River Day is a chem-free event. No bicycles, or animals of any kind other than service dogs, are allowed in the park.
Rain Date: Sunday, June 23rd.
