Our Proud Heritage
The Machias Bay Area is located in Washington County, Maine and is comprised of many communities surrounding the town of Machias.
Washington County is one of the largest counties in Maine, larger than the state of Rhode Island. Fresh water lakes, rivers and streams provide homes to a large variety of wildlife. Deer and moose are often seen during non-hunting season. Saltwater bays and tidal areas provide habitats for many bird species. Puffins are a favorite and we have a wonderful half day island tour where you can view them in their natural habitat. Ocean vistas abound on hiking trails in the area. Boating and kayaking are popular water sports.
Whether you are considering relocating to the Machias Bay Area for employment, retirement, or will be simply exploring our many opportunities as a visitor, the entire community welcomes you.
