Joint Meeting- Machias Community Christmas

A joint meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Machias Bay Chamber of Commerce’s train station to make some key decisions regarding the Machias Community Christmas. The public is urged to attend.
Last year, the Community Christmas served 220 children with gifts, a visit from Santa, horse and carriage rides, and an afternoon full of crafts and snacks. This was followed by a large nighttime parade with a dozen lighted floats, and the community tree and Danny’s Village of inflatables was lit. All of this was free to all, accomplished by many generous community donors, but just four volunteers. That level of participation is not sustainable.
Anyone in the greater Machias area who would like to participate in the planning and execution of the Machias Community Christmas is urged to attend the joint meeting between the committee and The Wesley Foundation. Topics to discuss are selecting a chairperson and possibly moving the event to a different location.
